An 18-year link profile that most competitors would envy is delivering roughly 23 organic visits a month, because every core commercial keyword is stranded at the top of page 2. This is a fixable positioning and on-page problem — not an authority problem.
We reviewed salesforcetraining.com using SEMrush position and crawl exports, the AI-visibility panel, and live checks of the site itself. Salesforce Training is a premium, done-for-you provider of instructor-led Salesforce training and user-adoption programs for corporate sales teams and sales leaders, sold consultatively and delivered globally. The diagnosis is encouraging: the hard part — authority — is already built. The unfinished part — ranking and positioning — is squarely within reach.
Competitors with a fraction of this domain's history are capturing the corporate training and adoption intent that should belong here. Stony Point and FocusOnForce rank for the team-training and adoption queries while this site sits on page 2. Meanwhile the single easiest keyword on the board — "salesforce configuration" at Keyword Difficulty 16 — is already ranking #19 on a page that was never finished. Every month it stays there is a month of qualified demand handed to the competition.
Do you keep spending effort trying to outrank Trailhead, Coursera, and LinkedIn Learning for the generic term "salesforce training" — a search whose intent is self-serve learning — or do you commit to owning the corporate adoption niche you are uniquely built to win? This audit argues, with the data, for the second path.
Every buyer who is about to invest in Salesforce — or is frustrated that their team will not use it — starts in the same place: a search. They type "why will my sales team not use Salesforce," or "salesforce training for sales teams," long before they ever request a quote. Organic search is the one channel where that buyer finds you at the exact moment of intent, at no cost per click, and where the asset compounds instead of resetting to zero when the budget pauses.
For a consultative offer with no public pricing, this matters twice over. The company does not win on price comparison; it wins on trust and authority. Ranking on page 1 for adoption and team-training questions is not a vanity metric. It is the mechanism by which a prospect decides you are the credible expert before the first call. Today that mechanism is switched off, because the pages that would earn that trust are sitting where almost no one sees them.
Five observations that explain the traffic, ranked by how much they hold the site back. These are diagnoses, not a task list — the actions follow in Part 3. Click any gap to expand.
596 referring domains and 2,100 backlinks, earned over an 18-year history, is a genuine competitive asset. Authority is not the problem. The problem is that the keywords this authority should be lifting all sit between positions 12 and 37 — the dead zone at the top of page 2 where click-through is effectively zero.
The horsepower is there; the wheels are not touching the road.
Page 1 for "salesforce training" (volume 320) is owned by Trailhead, Salesforce.com, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, and YouTube. The intent behind that search is "I want to learn Salesforce myself," not "I want to hire someone to train my sales team." An exact-match domain does not override intent.
This is why the namesake keyword ranks #20 and will stay there: the site is answering a different question than the one the searcher is asking.
Verified in the on-page export, several revenue pages compete with themselves:
At least nine indexable pages show "Meta description: not found" — including the homepage and /salesforce-on-your-own/, the page already ranking #19 for a winnable term.
Google auto-generates a snippet in this case, but for pages that already rank, a written, brand-first description is a free lever on click-through that is currently left on the table.
The site holds genuinely differentiated articles: why salespeople resist Salesforce, adoption challenges, deploying Salesforce, activity logging explained. They map precisely onto the informational questions the real buyer asks before hiring.
The raw material exists, and the posts already carry named-author bylines and dates. What is missing is consolidation: no pillar page ties the adoption articles into a hub, so the cluster neither ranks to its potential nor gets named by the AI engines.
The crawl flags 90 URLs returning "503 Service unavailable," but only three are real blog posts; the rest are feed, wp-json, and date-archive URLs. Fetched live, all three of those posts return HTTP 200 with full content. The 503s are the server throttling an aggressive crawler, not a site outage. Do not spend a sprint "fixing" pages that are not broken. The only real action is to confirm Googlebot is not being throttled the same way — which Search Console Crawl Stats settles in five minutes.
With that cleared, here is the finding worth stopping on. Your single most winnable keyword is the one almost no effort is going toward. "Salesforce configuration" has a Keyword Difficulty of just 16, and the site already ranks #19 for it with /salesforce-on-your-own/ — a page that has no meta description and only 793 words. Every other core term carries a difficulty of 61–69, an authority-gated fight that takes months. This one is a layup that was left unfinished on the rim.
The same pattern repeats quietly elsewhere: the "best sales movies" and "sales films" pages (difficulty 14–16) already rank at #71 to #74. There is a cluster of low-difficulty pages that are already ranking and simply were never finished — while effort is aimed at the one keyword the site cannot win. Reverse that, and the first results arrive in weeks rather than quarters.
Stated plainly, so no recommendation rests on a number it has not earned.
We cannot see real clicks or impressions, or confirm whether the spring 2026 spike-then-collapse was a core update, seasonality, or an indexation event. SEMrush visibility is directional and lags 24–48 hours.
Actual conversions, form fills, and lead value are invisible. A site with 23 organic visits can still close high-value deals through referral, direct, and brand channels.
The line-item ranking export is the Canada database (eight keywords). The full 287-keyword footprint is visible only in aggregate from the overview.
We cannot yet confirm whether Googlebot hits the same throttle the SEMrush crawler did. If it does, that is a real crawl-budget issue; if not, it is noise.
Granting Search Console and GA4 access would convert several of the estimates below into measured facts. It is the first thing we would ask for.
These are not tasks a specialist can execute alone. They are business calls that set the direction everything else follows.
Compete for the generic "salesforce training" head term — expensive, intent-mismatched, and owned by course platforms — or double down on the corporate adoption and sales-team niche you can realistically win?
The homepage shows a Toronto number, the ranking data pulled is Canadian, yet the About page claims 40 countries and 14 languages. Is the SEO priority Canada, the United States, or global?
Are you willing to fund a focused adoption-content hub — the one asset that can win both informational rankings and AI Overview citations — or keep the blog as an occasional exercise?
There is no pricing anywhere and three overlapping assessment and contact pages. Keep the pure consultative model, or introduce a productized entry offer that gives commercial pages something concrete to rank and convert on?
Will you grant Search Console and GA4 access? Without it, every optimization is being flown half-blind, and reporting cannot prove return.
Sequenced so the fastest, most certain wins come first and the compounding work follows.
KD 16, already #19. Expand to 1,200+ words, add H2s for the sub-questions, add a meta description, and interlink from the homepage. Highest certainty on the board.
Two URLs stop competing; Google can finally attribute the topic to one page.
Give the two assessment pages distinct, intent-matched titles and recover wasted ranking signal.
Free click-through lift on pages that already rank. Brand-first, under 155 characters.
Stops SERP truncation so the message survives to the click.
Via Search Console Crawl Stats. If it is, whitelist Googlebot at the firewall or rate-limiter.
Cluster the existing adoption articles under a pillar page, interlink them, and strengthen the author entity behind the existing bylines — an author bio page, author schema, and a Wikidata entry — for E-E-A-T and AI visibility.
Toward "Salesforce Training for Sales Teams" with the adoption angle, and fix the duplicate H1.
Three to four new commercial pages on lower-difficulty, matched-intent "sales team" and "adoption" terms.
Bing Webmaster Tools, a Wikidata entity with sameAs links, an llms.txt file, and robots access confirmed for GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and Google-Extended.
Benchmark stated inline, since no fixed CTR table is assumed: blended public organic click-through rates (position 1 ≈ 27%, position 5 ≈ 6%, position 8 ≈ 3.5%, position 10 ≈ 2.5%), and where an AI Overview is present on the query we discount organic click-through by roughly 35%. These are directional, not guarantees, and no ranking timeline is promised.
| Target term | Now | Goal | Volume | Modelled visits | Note | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| salesforce configuration | #19 | → | #5 | 70 | ~3 AIO-discounted | Value is proving the playbook on the easiest target |
| sales force training | #12 | → | #8 | 140 | ~5 | Closest core term to page 1 |
| homepage cluster training / sfdc / course | #20–30 | → | #10 | 740 combined | ~8–9 combined | Three terms, one page; roughly doubles site traffic |
Moving one page and the homepage cluster off the top of page 2 is modelled at roughly 13–15 additional visits a month from these few terms alone, against a current base near 23. The adoption hub is the larger, compounding play — but it is sized honestly as directional until Search Console impression data is available.
These platforms own page 1 for "salesforce training" because the search intent is self-serve learning and their authority is unassailable. The takeaway is not to fight them. It is to win the intent they do not serve: done-for-you corporate training and adoption.
The closest match to this business, positioned explicitly as "Leaders in Salesforce Training and Adoption, virtual or onsite." That is the same done-for-you space, described in almost the same words. This is the competitor occupying the position that should be yours.
A named founder with twelve certifications and a published book, and a library covering sixteen certifications, all tied to one recognizable expert. This site already has named trainers and a team page; the missing piece is FocusOnForce-level topical depth — exactly what the adoption hub would build.
Across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, and Gemini, the domain earns 24 page citations but only a single brand mention — and that one mention is in ChatGPT. The engines are reading the content and citing pages, yet the brand is almost never named as the answer.
This is a solvable gap and it maps back to Gap 5. The levers are engine-specific: ChatGPT leans on Bing's index and Wikipedia, so Bing Webmaster Tools and a Wikidata entity are non-negotiable. Google AI Overviews draw on strong organic results and schema, which the adoption hub directly feeds.
Judgment is as much about what to ignore. These are consciously parked.
| Parked item | Reason |
|---|---|
| Schema markup | Already present as JSON-LD on every indexable page. No action needed. |
| The 90 "503" URLs | Verified as crawler throttling, not outages. Only three are real posts, all live at 200. wp-json, feed, and date-archive URLs are noise. Only action: confirm Googlebot is not throttled. |
| Image alt text and page speed | No site-specific evidence these are what hold rankings on page 2. Intent and content depth are the levers here. |
| The /custom-training-programs 404 | Real, but has zero internal links pointing at it. A five-minute redirect, not a priority. |
| Chasing the "sales movies" positions | A fun top-of-funnel asset with low commercial value. Leave as-is. |
Targets are directional and assume the quick wins and foundation work ship.
This is a strong domain that has quietly slipped to the top of page 2 and stayed there. Nothing in this audit requires rebuilding the site or earning hundreds of new links. The authority is already paid for. The work is to finish the pages that are almost ranking, stop the money pages from competing with each other, organize the adoption content into an asset the search engines and the AI engines can both reward, and point the whole effort at the niche this company is genuinely built to win.
